Product description

Please follow the instruction and proceed with caution.

Protective equipment is highly recommended.

Mr. Mark Setter is an adhesive for decals.

It is used to firmly attach decals to a painted surface.

It is especially effective when used on older decals that have lost their adhesion or decals that do not have strong adhesive properties to begin with.

Additionally, it contains components that soften the decal.

Apply a small amount to the position where the decal is to be placed, and then position the decal on top of it. The adhesive bonds the decal to the painted surface, making it difficult to peel off even after it has dried.

Because the softening solvent rapidly softens the decal, applying too much may cause the decal itself to melt or erode the painted surface.

Applying it over a placed decal will have some effect, but fundamentally, it should be applied underneath the decal.

This product is water-soluble. By adding water as needed, you can dilute the solvent's effect and prevent rapid softening. Depending on the painted surface and the type of decal used, it may be best to dilute it with water before use.

After placing the decal, lightly press it down with a slightly dampened Mr. Cotton Swab, Mr. Clean Stick 2, or a dust-free cloth to ensure the decal conforms firmly to the surface of the part.

At this time, wiping away the excess Mr. Mark Setter prevents it from over-softening the decal. Using a water-dampened cotton swab helps neutralize the Mark Setter, preventing the decal from becoming too soft from the solvent.
If the decal is stiff and difficult to soften, apply a small amount of MS231 Mr. Mark Softer on top of the decal and let it blend in. Be careful not to apply too much.

If air bubbles get trapped between the decal and the part ("silvering"), carefully prick holes in the decal using a needle or a design knife after the decal has completely dried.

Afterwards, applying Mr. Mark Softer again will re-soften the decal, causing the bubbles to disappear and the decal to adhere firmly to the surface of the part.
One way to prevent silvering is to finish the base surface where the decal will be applied with a gloss clear coat.

We have redesigned this product by replacing the main ingredients used in the old version with environmentally friendly alternatives.
The changes associated with this are as follows:

The adhesive has been changed from an emulsion resin-based adhesive to an acrylic resin-based adhesive. The adhesive performance has improved compared to the previous version.

Even if you apply masking tape after applying the decal and coating it with a gloss clear, the decal is less likely to be peeled off by the tape.

The softening performance is stronger than the previous version.

It has a stronger dissolving power against Water-based Hobby Colors than the previous version. This is particularly noticeable if the paint's drying time was short, so please ensure the paint is thoroughly dried and avoid applying the setter in large quantities. If using it over water-based colors, it is recommended to dilute the Mark Setter with water to lower

its dissolving power before use.
Although it depends on the drying time of the paint film, the volume used, and the wiping method, a dilution of about 30% is a good general guideline.

Note: The color of Mr. Mark Setter will become a darker milky white over time. This is due to the influence of the adhesive components. Even if the milky white color deepens, it does not affect the adhesive strength. Furthermore, once the adhesive dries, it becomes transparent just like the old Mark Softer, so it will not leave a visual impact after application.
